i've been studying with the jw's for about a year now.
i know that by nature (or nurture!
) i have an addictive personality so i have tried to be real careful that i'm doing the right thing by getting involved with them.

Hello. Please listen to the opinions of everyone who responded, positively or negatively. Weigh them. Most importantly, pray earnestly for guidance and direction.
As far as You Know goes, he appears to be hypocritical, for on the one hand he says:
Your continuing to lurk among us only pretending to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses is not an admirable thing to do and gives evidence that you are in reality a very weak-minded and cowardly individual who would rather live a lie than stand up for his convictions. Why should anyone give any credence to the jaundiced opinions of such spineless individuals?Yet, on the other hand, he's hiding under a rock himself. Ask him to tell you what congregation he goes to or what his real identity is or if his elders know that he frequents this and probably other ex-JW sites. He wouldn't be able to answer those types of questions honestly (if at all) because he himself is a coward, in fear of men that would discipline him for mingling with former JW's.
Meow921,
Never be afraid to do research on any important decision you may make, whether it is choosing a religion or otherwise.
You Know, me, or anyone else here doesn't have to live with your decision. Only you have to live with it. Do whatever you feel will be most beneficial for yourself and your family, be it becoming a JW or not. Also, let God guide you.

this goes out to anyone (jw's and x-jw's).. i was just wondering last night about how jw's teach that jesus was the last adam; how he balanced the scales because he was perfect; how only the sacrifice of a perfect human body can redeem mankind from its sinful state.
(of course, other religion's may teach these things, too.
however, i've only lived my life as a jw so i can't speak on behalf of other faith's).. anyway, jesus came to earth and passed the tests that satan threw at him.

Excellent points and I loved that Job comparison.
Great food for thought!
well, richie's post on his memorial experience got me to thinking about the practice of "confessing sins" and how little jws are able to take advantage of it.. in what they term "worldly chruches," people go frequently to confess their sins.
their priest or womever offers them "absolution" and they are free to go on their merry little way and commit more sins.. now the jw will call that hypocrisy but i see it the exact other way.. according to the bible there 'is nothing new under the sun,' therefore, why should jws be afraid to confess their sins to the ones looking out for their spiritual well being?
why are they not allowed to say "brothers i've sinned again.
That is so true, Lisa.
Thanks for your fine insight!

I guess Xenu is the only one in a thinking mood today.
:o)
enjoy all.... the colors of easter.
green is for the palms they waved at him and he entered into jerusalem.. purple is for the wine he poured and blessed before he faced his final test.. red is for the precious boold he shed from the crown of thorns placed on his head.. black is for the sky as he died in the cross, sufering to redeem our loss.. pinkl, yellow, and orange are for the dawn thet morn when the tomb was empty and hope was reborn.. white is for the dazzling light that awed all who saw him arisen - the son of god,.
alleluia!.
Thanks, Lydia.
It's amazing how fast posts get buried around here.
okay.. for the second straight year, the p.o.
of my congregation had 'we thank you, jehovah' playing faintly in the background while the emblems were being rejected...er...passed around.. does anyone else know of someone who delivers (delivered) the memorial talk who adds (added) their own tradition into the mix?.
oh, i almost forgot...a young girl (a little over one year old) attended her first memorial.
Okay.

Oh, I almost forgot...A young girl (a little over one year old) attended her first Memorial. She was sitting next to a partaker. The partaker took the "bread" and began eating it. So, the little girl tried to take some "bread" off of the tray. When they wouldn't let her she began to WAIL soooooo loudly. It was TOO funny!!! How do they know that little girl isn't annointed??? LOL!

Anyway, Jesus came to earth and passed the tests that Satan threw at him. He remained loyal and proved to all the angels and God that it is possible to "defeat" the devil.
But, what about Adam? How come, even though he was perfect, he couldn't remain loyal? Well, Adam was created. His wife was then created. Everything was new to them. They had to learn so much as they went along. They "winged" it, so to speak. But Jesus possibly lived thousands and thousands of years before coming to the earth and taking on a human form. Wouldn't you say that Jesus had a much better chance of not sinning since he was God's first creation? I mean, he got to see how humans operate. More importantly, he knew Satan before Satan became Satan (huh??? LOL!). He knew how Satan operated. So, are the scales of justice really balanced?
They're balanced in the sense of perfect vs. perfect. But Jesus had a HUGE mental advantage over Adam, right? Even us as imperfect people have a bigger advantage than did Adam and Eve. At least we have a history to go by. We even have a Bible (for those of us that believe in the Bible). Adam and Eve had nothing to go by.
I welcome everyone's response but please keep it nice. NO FLAME WARS, PLEASE.
Thank you!

It's always something, isn't it? I'm convinced that your brother-in-law and his wife have their own issues which we don't know about at this time.

I knew the "runaway" elder since I was a little boy. Of course, he was a grown man. We weren't buddies or anything. Personally, I just feel that when a person makes up false accusations against someone else, he is doing so to draw attention away from himself.
